Microsoft To Overhaul HBOS Internet Corporate Banking System
HBOS is to deploy Microsoft .NET technology as part of an infrastructure implementation which includes substantial work to standardise the bank’s systems and the development of a major application to re-architecture the Bank of Scotland’s popular Internet Corporate Banking System onto the .NET platform. The project will be undertaken by the HBOS E-commerce Development Centre in Belfast. They will be supported by consultants from Microsoft’s financial services team in Edinburgh and Reading. To implement the re-architecture, the developers will use Visual Studio .NET and the .NET Framework to enable simple integration for customers, staff, and partners to many back end systems across the HBOS group of companies. Commenting on the agreement, HBOS Director of Group Programmes, Ian Kerr said: ‘We were attracted to Microsoft .NET because it avoids the conventional rip and replace approach. Instead the .NET framework has the ability to bridge the technology gap between disparate systems, regardless of platform, protecting our earlier investment in systems, software and people.’
