US Grants Firewall Patent to Tumbleweed
Tumbleweed Communications has been granted U.S. Patent No. 6,609,196 by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, titled ‘E-mail Firewall with Stored Key Encryption/Decryption.’ The move represents the first patent for e-mail firewalls. Jeffrey Smith, Chairman and CEO at Tumbleweed, explains: ‘The e-mail firewall has become a critical component of the network. Tumbleweed pioneered the market for e-mail firewalls, and now the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has affirmed our position in this growing market.’
