American Express Appoints Two to European Management Team

James Crotty has been appointed to run American Express’s pan-European customer service organisation, which is headquartered in Brighton, UK. In this new role, Crotty will be responsible for all aspects of service delivery for the consumer, commercial card and merchant services organisation, which employs over 3,500 people across Europe. He has held the position of SVP and head of American Express commercial card since 2002, and has worked within the corporate services division of the company since 1994. In his most recent role, Crotty was responsible for the rapid expansion of the company’s SME customer base, and has signed a number of high profile co-brand partnerships, including associations with Deutsche Bank, KLM, Air France and TQ3. Brendan Walsh takes over James Crotty’s previous role. In his new role Walsh will be responsible for growing the company’s corporate card, meeting card and corporate purchasing solutions businesses across EMEA and will oversee all aspects of the business, from managing American Express’ Corporate Card partnerships with airlines and travel agents across Europe, through to overseeing sales, relationship management and marketing.
