KBC Securities Acquires Majority Shareholding in Equitas

KBC Securities and the management of Equitas have reached an agreement, whereby KBC Securities will acquire full control of Equitas, the Hungarian online retail broker. Both parties are aiming to finalise the deal in the first quarter of 2007. The deal is subject to approval by the Hungarian Supervisory and Regulatory authorities. This transaction and the acquisition of Swiss Capital in Romania at the end of December 2006 reflect KBC Securities’ intention to further develop its other home market of Central and Eastern Europe.
