Successful Trial for Dovetail and Intel's Faster Payments Solution

Dovetail and Intel have collaborated in tests to prove the power of their scalable payments components, Faster Payments solution. The solution is designed to deliver near linear scalability across industry-standard, commodity priced hardware. The trial focused on processing individual payments through a Faster Payments flow typical for a member bank, using ISO20022 as the normalising format. Results revealed that one dual core Intel Xeon processor powered machine could handle 265 transactions per second from end to end with full resilience and auditing enabled. In addition, the test demonstrated near linear scaling, as additional machines were added. The experiment concluded with a five-machine cluster processing more than 1,300 transactions per second, or over 4.5 million per hour. No performance limitations were identified that would prevent scaling beyond the hardware available for this test.
