e-crime Division - UK First for Manchester Law Firm
Manchester law firm Burton Copeland has become the first law firm to launch on-site forensic facilities in the light of dramatically escalating cyber-crime and Internet fraud which costs the UK over £20bn a year. This latest development – Burtons Digital – sees the Manchester-based law firm team up with computer forensics firm AFENTIS, to offer advice and legal representation to those concerned about, or facing charges, in such diverse areas as computer-based fraud, hacking, terrorism and/or child pornography. Burton Copeland’s on-site forensic facilities and certified investigative experts will allow the consideration of digital evidence exhibits so as to assist in defence case preparation. The launch of Burtons Digital means that the law firm now has the capacity to genuinely support clients in matters where there is some form of technical aspect to the prosecution case – from financial fraud, telecommunications offences through to evidence identified on websites or computer hard drives. Burtons Digital, which launched this month, will be headed up by head of business crime, Mike Rainford.
