Investec Bank Appoints Senior Investment Practitioner

Investec Bank (Switzerland) AG (Investec) has appointed Philipp Schmahl as a senior investment practitioner to its bank in Switzerland. The bank says that this appointment is comes as a result of the increased demand from private clients for its specialist wealth management services in Switzerland. Based in Zurich, Schmahl will develop the bank’s existing wealth management services in tandem with its London-based Private Bank and Investec Trust in Geneva. He will report to Oliver Betz, head of Investec. Schmahl joins Investec from Goldman Sachs, where he was an executive director in the investment management division, having joined the division in Frankfurt in 2001. In 2003, he internally moved to Zurich, where, most recently, he spearheaded the Swiss efforts of the Wealth Management Solutions team, which provided a third party distribution platform for external asset managers, offering a one-stop shop in all service areas. Schmahl started his career at Euroasiatic Jaya PT in Indonesia as a sales manager operating in the pan-Asian textile, timber and energy industries.
