SII Teams up with IoD to Build Better-qualified Boards

The Securities & Investment Institute (SII) is joining with the Institute of Directors (IoD) to offer SII members an opportunity to enhance and broaden their skills at boardroom level on a highly time- and cost-efficient basis.

The programme will be designed specifically to inform and remind both executive and non-executive directors of their legal responsibilities, and to enhance their skills in terms of risk management, finance, strategic planning and human resource management as key elements of their role in terms of collective board responsibility.

The programme can be undertaken either as an accelerated one-week or intermittent modular programme leading to the exam-based qualification for the accredited IoD certificate and subsequent Diploma in Company Direction. This can in turn then lead on to the status of Chartered Director for those who qualify accordingly.

“This is an important and welcomed new initiative and one which can help restore trust and confidence in leadership of the financial sector which has been so badly damaged by recent events,” said Sir David Walker, author of the Walker Review of Corporate Governance of the UK Banking Industry.

The programme is due to begin from November but is open now for applications.
