Filippo Sabatini Appointed Global Head of Public Sector for Citi's GTS
Citi has appointed Filippo Sabatini to the role of global head of public sector for its Global Transaction Services (GTS).
Sabatini will focus on accelerating GTS’ efforts to meet the critical and evolving opportunities and requirements emanating from the public sector worldwide. These include improving operating efficiency, control and best execution in services supporting central government bodies, central banks, local authorities, super-nationals, post offices, non-government organisations (NGOs), major sovereign investment funds and pension funds. He will also cover the endowment funds and philanthropic foundations, and continue to facilitate opportunities with Citi’s federal, state and local public sector clients in the US.
During Sabatini’s 22-year career at Citi, he has held many senior roles. As the public sector industry lead for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), his team doubled the size of their business in a two-year timeframe. Prior to that, he was the EMEA industry sector head for the petroleum, energy, chemical and mining sector; a senior banker in Italy with responsibility for the petroleum, energy, chemical, telecommunications, public sector and branded consumer industries; as well as a relationship manager with the financial institutions group in Italy covering major insurance, mutual funds and financial intermediary clients. Sabatini brings a wealth of client experience to the role, encompassing corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, debt capital markets and transaction services. He joined Citi as a management associate in 1987.
