Canon Identifies Top Five IT Challenges for 2010

Canon UK has identified the five key challenges facing organisations for the rest of the year, using insight gained from customers and business partners. Using this information, it has launched a guide that is designed to help organisations turn these challenges into opportunities and take small, but impactful, steps towards future growth.

Clare Want, marketing director, Canon Business Solutions – Canon UK & Ireland, said: “At Canon we meet with around 10,000 customers across Europe every day so we really do understand the challenges they face. This means that we can work together and suggest changes in terms of IT systems, workflows and business processes, which will result in the biggest improvements. For example in the UK, Canon has helped the Environment Agency save over £1.4m over a three-year period by streamlining its print and document strategy.”

The guide identifies the following challenges:

  • Controlling costs – consider bringing in specialist support to identify and manage costs more effectively.
  • Managing security and compliance – lean on the expertise of partners to lessen the burden.
  • Balancing business goals with environmental responsibility – invest wisely in new devices to reduce energy consumption and demand for consumables.
  • Reducing workplace inefficiencies – automate core business processes so resources can be reallocated to other priorities.
  • Improving customer satisfaction – ensure back-office and IT processes are running efficiently to allow staff to focus on customer service.

The full ‘Turning Challenges Into Opportunities’ guide can be downloaded from the Canon UK website, complete with examples of how organisations in sectors such as banking, insurance, healthcare, education and the public sector are responding to market challenges.
