Hercules Offshore Promotes Stephen Butz to CFO
Oil and gas exploration firm Hercules Offshore has promoted Stephen Butz, currently serving as vice president, finance and treasurer, to senior vice president (SVP), chief financial officer (CFO) and treasurer. Butz replaces Lisa Rodriguez, who will remain with the company in the position of vice president, human resources.
Rodriguez initially joined the company as CFO in an interim role in January 2007 and was permanently appointed in March 2007. She served as CFO during the company’s acquisition of Todco in the same year and during a number of strategic transactions, and has had responsibility for oversight of human resources since 2008.
Butz initially joined the company in February 2005 and served as director of corporate development at the time of the company’s initial public offering (IPO). He was appointed vice president, finance and treasurer of the company in October 2006. Prior to joining the company, Butz served as a consultant to Noble Corporation, an international offshore drilling contractor. He also previously served in a variety of roles in both investment and commercial banking at institutions, including Deutsche Bank, Jefferies & Company and First Interstate Bank.
At the same time, Troy Carson, currently serving as vice president and corporate controller, is appointed as chief accounting officer (CAO). Carson joined the company in March 2007 and was named principal accounting officer in July 2008. Previously, Carson served in a variety of roles, including as assistant corporate controller, at Weatherford International, an international oilfield services company. Carson is a certified public accountant (CPA) with prior experience at a global public accounting firm.
