Standard Chartered Bank Makes Two Appointments to Cash Equities

Standard Chartered Bank has appointed two executives in the continued build out of its cash equities team. Kim Yong Kook joins the bank as head of cash equities in Korea and Richard Stone is taking on the role of global head of cash equities sales trading, based in Hong Kong. Both Yong Kook and Stone will report to Tim Andrew, global head of cash equities.

As head of cash equities, Korea, Yong Kook will be responsible for leading the bank’s efforts to expand the cash equities business in Korea. He brings to Standard Chartered Bank two decades of experience in both sales and research in Asia with a focus on Korea. Yong Kook started his career in research at Hoare Govett in Seoul before moving on to positions at Credit Suisse in Hong Kong and WI Carr, and most recently at Samsung Securities (Asia), where he worked as head of sales. He joined Standard Chartered Bank on 3 May 2010.

Having joined on 10 May 2010, Stone will contribute to Standard Chartered Bank’s efforts to expand the cash equities sales platform. He brings more than 20 years of experience in the trading and sales trading industry. Prior to joining Standard Chartered, Stone held positions at CLSA as global head of sales trading and Merrill Lynch as head of Asia (ex-Japan) sales trading. Stone also previously worked at Hoare and Govett and Smith New Court in senior trading roles.
