The Benche Expands to Cover Custody Services

SEB, a Nordic financial institution, has announced that the Benche, its open networking platform, now encompasses custody services in addition to trade finance and cash management.

The custody section on the Benche targets professionals within the bank and financial institutions industry around the globe, giving them a place where they can discuss topics such as execution and post trade management, asset servicing, tax and technology reports, and updates on market infrastructure and risk management. The platform provides insight and information on new local, regional and international rules and regulations, as well as daily custody related news, webinars, country reports, analysis and experts’ blogs.

The Benche, which was launched in November 2008, consists of more than 3,500 registered members and attracting over 12,000 hits every month.

Ulf Norén, global head of sub-custody at SEB, said: “It is impossible for the single individual, and even single organisations, to keep track of everything that happens, collate all relevant material, being represented in all important forums and translate this information into meaningful business decisions. I feel that adding custody to the Benche will take this a giant leap forward as we can increase the speed of thought sharing and to an even higher degree take the debate from bilateral to multilateral. This industry needs it if we are going to regain the influence initiative.”
