Standard Chartered Appoints Michael Haigh as Head of Commodities Research

Standard Chartered Bank has appointed Michael Haigh as global head of commodities research. He will be based in Singapore and will report to Alex Barrett, head of client research. Haigh will be responsible for providing both fundamental research and market strategy for commodities, focusing on energy, base and precious metals, agriculture and other related markets. This is a new role, which will support the growing business and ambitions of Standard Chartered in the commodity derivatives and physical markets with corporate and institutional clients.

Haigh joins from K2 Advisors, a US-based fund of hedge funds focused on the commodity markets, where he was managing director, commodity and alternative strategy hedge fund research. He was previously managing director and head of US commodity research at Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking in New York.
