Petra Solar Appoints John Rego as CFO and Treasurer

Petra Solar, a pioneer in grid-tied, pole-mounted, distributed solar generation systems for utilities, has appointed John Rego as chief financial officer (CFO) and treasurer. Rego will be responsible for accounting, finance, treasury, taxation, human resources, public relations, and information technology.

Rego brings to Petra Solar more than 25 years of executive leadership experience in building technology companies. He spent the past seven years with Vonage Holdings, where he served as executive vice president (EVP), CFO and treasurer. During his time at Vonage, Rego was responsible for raising over US$1.3bn in capital and building a finance organisation for the start-up which eventually grew to hold revenues in excess of US$900m.

Prior to joining Vonage Holdings, Rego served as vice president finance – business operations of RCN Corporation, a publicly-held cable, internet and telephony provider. Additionally, Rego, a graduate of Rutgers University, served as vice president – finance at Winstar Communications, a local exchange carrier. Prior to his Winstar experience, he worked as a certified public accountant (CPA) with major firms.
