VeriFone's PAYware Mobile Launches in UK in April 2011
VeriFone will begin shipping PAYware Mobile from April 2011. The pocket-sized card reader works with selected smartphones to accept secure chip and PIN credit, debit and contactless card payments – adding new convenience for both merchants and customers.
PAYware Mobile is fully EMV compliant and complies with all UK and Payment Card Industry (PCI) security standards. Using PAYware Mobile allows sole traders, small businesses and self-employed merchants to accept all forms of card payments. It also includes reporting and business tools to help merchants manage their accounts, as well as the ability to email customised receipts to customers.
Tony Saunders, marketing director for VeriFone, said: “The UK is an increasingly card-based economy – cheques are being phased out and cash volumes are shrinking. It makes sense for small businesses to migrate to card payments. By using their existing smartphones, we can help them do this while keeping capital costs to a minimum. We can also help them with fast and easy set-up of a merchant account, so they can accept transactions and access funds straightaway. By taking advantage of our pre-registration service, users can also steal a lead on the competition and be among the first to take advantage of secure mobile phone-based card payments.”
