Citi's Paul Simpson to Join BofA Merrill as Head of Global Treasury Solutions
Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BofA Merrill) has appointed Paul Simpson as head of global treasury solutions, effective in May 2011. In this newly-created position, he will be responsible for trade finance and broadening the trade platform, which is a focus area for global corporate banking and global banking and markets. Simpson will be based in New York and will report to Paul Donofrio, head of global corporate banking, with accountability to David Darnell, president of global commercial banking.
Simpson joins from Citi, where he is currently global head of treasury and trade solutions in the global transaction services (GTS). He joined Citi in 2007 as head of global public sector and healthcare markets, GTS. Previously, he worked for JP Morgan Chase, where he held several roles in treasury services since 2001. Prior to his position with JP Morgan Chase, Simpson was managing director and head of e-cash solutions and global bank export services for Deutsche Bank. Before joining Deutsche, he worked for Bankers Trust as global head of trade services, and for the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ) as a senior manager in the investment bank in both Sydney and New York.
Simpson holds an MBA in Finance, Economics and International Business from New York University, and a BS in Russian from Georgetown University in Washington, DC.
