Hearst Magazines International Appoints Simon Horne as CFO

Hearst Magazines International (HMI), a US magazine publisher, has appointed Simon Horne as chief financial officer (CFO), general manager (GM) and senior vice president (SVP). For the past 10 years, Horne has filled the role of CFO and GM at The National Magazine Company (NatMag), a Hearst subsidiary in the UK. In this new position, he will take responsibility for all financial and administrative aspects of Hearst’s international magazine business and will work with Duncan Edwards, HMI’s president and chief executive officer (CEO), on strategy and business development. Horne will be based in London.

Horne joined NatMag in 2000 as group finance director and was promoted to GM and finance director of the company in 2004. In that role, he worked with the CEO to manage an aggressive growth strategy, complete numerous acquisitions, create two joint ventures and programme new product development and launches.

Previously, Horne worked for Harcourt Publishers International from 1997 to 2000 as SVP, CFO and finance director. Prior to that, he served as vice president (VP), international controller at Times Mirror International Publishers.

Horne will commence his new responsibilities effective immediately and will continue to act as CFO and GM of NatMag until a new appointment is made.
