Emera Appoints Judy Steele, FCA, as Interim CFO

Emera, an energy and services company, has appointed Judy Steele, a fellow of chartered accountants (FCA), as interim chief financial officer (CFO), effective 16 May 2011. Steele is replacing Nancy Tower, FCA, who was recently appointed chief executive officer (CEO) for Emera Newfoundland and Labrador, and executive vice president (EVP) of business development for Emera.

Steele is presently the vice president of finance for Emera Energy. Previously, Steele worked in a variety of capacities across Emera’s business, including investor and external relations, strategy development and regulatory affairs. She is a chartered accountant (CA) and, before joining Emera, worked in the financial services industry for Ernst & Young, in both the accounting and auditing, and consulting practices. In 2005 she was awarded her profession’s highest honour, the FCA.
