Cyan Adds Scott Bauer as CFO
Cyan, a global provider of packet-optical transport systems, has hired Scott Bauer as chief financial officer (CFO). Bringing nearly 20 years of financial executive experience with both public and private companies to Cyan, Bauer will manage the company’s legal and IT operations, along with the financial team.
Bauer’s diverse background includes experience in financial operations, mergers and acquisitions (M&As), business development, international operations and securities offerings. Previously, he was instrumental in the noted financial progress of two technology companies, Yipes Enterprise Services and Ask Jeeves. Most recently, Bauer was CFO for Yipes, a provider of managed ethernet services to the enterprise. He was essential to the company’s revenue growth, as well as expansion of margins, culminating in its acquisition by Reliance Communications.
Bauer served as vice president of finance and corporate controller of Ask Jeeves and served as its principal accounting officer before his time with Yipes. He also served as a board member for several of Ask Jeeves’ foreign subsidiaries and was part of the team that oversaw the company’s return to profitability and transition to a high-margin company. In addition, Bauer has held various leadership roles at Barclays Global Investors, an asset management firm, and Arthur Andersen, a professional services firm.
