WorldPay and Semafone Partner to Support PCI Compliance at Call Centres
WorldPay, an ecommerce payments processor, has joined forces with Semafone to offer its Secure Voice Transactions (SVT) technology to customers. The new joint offering will help retailers and other companies that take telephone orders on their journey towards PCI compliance and support them in tackling call centre fraud.
The technology works by allowing the customer to enter card data via their telephone keypad while in voice communications with the contact centre agent instead of verbally sharing it over the phone. After capturing the data, Semafone transfers the information to WorldPay to process customers’ card payment securely.
The Semafone offering has several benefits for call centre operators as it means they no longer need to process customer information or store any sensitive card data on their call centre systems. This could lead to a significant amount of money being saved on fraud protection and compliance with certain Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) requirements by removing the need to capture data. In addition, customers may value the extra security measure and, if they are at ease with the process, they are more likely to transact over the phone again.
