BofA Merrill Adds Two to Chile Corporate Banking Team
Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BofA Merrill) has hired two senior executives for its corporate banking business in Chile. Rodrigo Demaria joins as director and head of corporate banking Southern Cone. Cristian Aguirre joins as vice president and, with Demaria, will be responsible for developing relationships with clients in the Southern Cone.
Based out of BofA’s bank representative office in Santiago, Chile, Demaria reports jointly to David Jana, country executive for the Southern Cone region, and Carlos Ibañez, head of corporate banking for Spanish speaking Latin America. Aguirre, also based in Santiago, reports to Demaria.
Demaria was most recently at BBVA where he worked for six years as executive director, corporate and investment banking, covering companies in the energy, oil and gas, mining, telecom and retail sectors. During his tenure at BBVA, he was also head of financial institutions. Previously, Demaria was at Banco de Credito e Inversiones as an advisor to the chief executive officer (CEO). Demaria’s additional financial services experience includes five years working at Citigroup in the corporate and investment banking in Santiago and New York.
Aguirre joins from BBVA where he was a senior relationship manager in international corporate banking and based in New York and Chile. Previously, he worked at Citigroup in Chile as a relationship manager. Aguirre began his career in the corporate banking group at Banco Security in Chile.
