RBS Hires Manfred Schmoelz as Head of Global Network Banking Asia-Pacific

The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has hired Manfred Schmoelz as head of global network banking in Asia-Pacific, effective 7 September 2011. Schmoelz will focus on the growth of the RBS global network banking franchise in supporting multinational enterprise clients and their regional subsidiaries. He will be based in Singapore and will report into: Paul McDonagh, head of global network banking; Matthew Kirkby, head of global banking, Asia-Pacific and global head of corporate finance; and Alan Goodyear, as head of global transaction services Asia-Pacific.

Schmoelz brings 21 years of experience in corporate banking, 15 of those in Asia, to his role with RBS. Previously, Schmoelz acted as chief country officer for Thailand at Deutsche Bank. He was responsible for all of Deutsche Bank’s local business lines and employees, and its relationship with Thailand’s banking regulators, central bank, and other institutions. Prior to this role, Schmoelz was Deutsche Bank’s head of corporate banking coverage, Asia-Pacific.

This is the second hire for the global network banking Asia-Pacific business this year: Jonathan Jiang was appointed in April as global network banking head in China.
