HSBC Appoints Arjan Van Den Berkmortel as Head for the West Coast and Texas

HSBC Bank USA (HSBC) has appointed Arjan Van Den Berkmortel as executive vice president (EVP) and regional president, commercial banking, for the west coast region and Texas. He is based in Los Angeles and reports to Mark Watkinson, senior EVP and head of commercial banking for North America.

Van Den Berkmortel joined HSBC in 1996 and has held a number of high-profile positions within the organisation in London, Hong Kong, Paris and the Middle East. He has extensive cross-border banking experience in trade finance, transaction and corporate banking. Most recently, he served as chief executive officer (CEO) for HSBC’s operations in the Czech Republic.

Van Den Berkmortel is a graduate from the University of Maastricht, Netherlands, where he obtained a master’s degree in economics and business administration. Additionally, he has completed a senior executive programme at the London Business School.
