MasterCard Europe Appoints Ex-VocaLink Marion King to Lead UK and Ireland

MasterCard Europe has appointed Marion King as president of its UK and Ireland business. King will join on 12 March 2012 and report to Javier Perez, president of MasterCard Europe. King will focus on growing the payments industry in the UK and creating a cashless society through MasterCard’s innovative approach to everyday payments, including emerging technologies such as contactless and mobile. She will also look to consolidate MasterCard’s leadership position in credit through partnership programmes, including Priceless London, which reward cardholders for choosing to use MasterCard.

King was previously CEO of VocaLink, a payments service provider to banks, corporations and governments, with operations across the UK and Europe. Prior to this, she held a series of senior roles at Reuters spanning a 14-year period in Europe and Asia, most recently as managing director for global foreign exchange (FX) transaction services.
