New Head of GTB at SocGen Targeting Corporates
Christian Behaghel has been appointed Societe Generale’s head of global transaction banking (GTB), and deputy head of its transaction and payment services unit, starting from 2 May. He will report to Pascal Augé, head of the latter unit and will be targeting corporate customers, among others, as the 1 February 2014 deadline for single euro payments area (SEPA) compliance draws near.
In his new role Behaghel’s main objective will be to drive Societe Generale GTB’s development strategy by supporting its client base of corporate and financial institutions in the management of their global relationships.
He will have direct supervisory responsibilities for GTB’s four main business lines, covering:
Behaghel joined Societe Generale in 1976. Following various overseas jobs in the bank’s corporate and investment banking division, in 1992 he was appointed head of financial engineering, before joining the large corporates division in 1998. In 2009, he became global head of large corporate clients for the retail banking division in France, before attaining his present position.
