Bank of Lanzhou, OKI Introduce Biometric ATMs in China

Bank of Lanzhou has incorporated biometrics into its automatic teller machines (ATMs) in China.

The bank’s machines are based on OKI’s ATM-Recycler G7 ATMs, which use finger vein authentication. OKI said it aims to expand sales of ATMs that use finger vein authentication, which makes forgery and identity fraud significantly more difficult. The  telecommunications manufacturer said this function is especially important in the Chinese ATM market, where demand is growing for transaction safety and security.

OKI co-developed its finger vein authentication module with mofiria Corporation. OKI said that using vein patterns for authentification makes forgery and identity-thief more difficult than that of surface of a finger. It also minimizes the calculations required for authentication.
