PTSB taps former HSBC executive for chief risk role
Financial services company, Permanent TSB (PTSB) has brought on board Michael Frawley as its new chief risk officer. He will succeed Stephen Groarke who stepped down to become the European chief financial officer for Elavon. Frawley, a former HSBC executive has been with the bank for nearly 10 years and recently served as chief risk officer of the bank’s Bermudian operation. Speaking about Michael Frawley’s appointment, PTSB chief executive Jeremy Masding said: “This appointment demonstrates the bank’s commitment to excellence in all aspects of its risk management activities. Mike’s risk expertise, leadership skills and proven track record make him an excellent fit for the position.”
Government appoints tax director
The Office of Tax Simplification has appointed Bill Dodwell as tax director. He will succeed Paul Morton who served as tax director since 2017. Dodwell is a chartered accountant, chartered tax adviser and served as head of tax policy at Deloitte and was responsible for representations to HM Treasury, HM Revenues & Customs, the OECD and the EU. He also served as a former president of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and joined the OTS in 2018 as a senior policy adviser. Commenting upon Bill Dodwell’s appointment, OTS chairman Angela Knight said: “Bill has huge experience and knowledge and is already contributing to the work of the OTS as an advisor. I am delighted to welcome Bill as the new tax director.”
Boots gets new Trading Director
UK-based pharmacy chain, Boots has taken on board David Hobbs as its new UK Trading Director. Prior to this role, Hobbs served Tesco for 13 years. The pharmacy chain has also appointed Tracey Clements as its new chief operating officer UK and Ireland. Welcoming Tracey Clements and David Hobbs on board, Boots UK and Ireland Managing Director Seb James said: “I feel lucky to be working with such a strong executive team as they are about to build the next chapter for Boots.”
