Neil Vernon

Neil Vernon is development director at Gresham Computing. He oversees the development of Gresham's software products and is responsible for is responsible for overall corporate product strategy (product management), research and development, and quality assurance. Vernon has a long history in product management and bringing enterprise-grade solutions to market, specialising in wholesale financial services software. Before joining Gresham he was senior product manager at SmartStream Technologies, where he was responsible for setting product strategy. While in this role, Vernon grew the TLM business from to 140 customers in six years and launched a number of core TLM products, including TLM Reconciliations, which grew to hold a 42% market share. While at SmartStream, Vernon was chair of the TLM user group and served as a representative on SWIFT, ISITC and other industry bodies. He was also a keen speaker and panel member at international industry events such as Sibos. Prior to this, Vernon was chief technology officer (CTO) at the then start-up PaceMetrics, where he was in charge of corporate strategy and identity development, technology vision, product development and marketing, and channel development. In this role, he developed and took to market a combination of business activity monitoring (BAM) and complex event processing (CEP) products, and led product implementations at HvB, JP Morgan, ABN Amro and Lehman Brothers. Vernon was also associate director of Swiss Bank and later UBS (post-acquisition), responsible for back office cash equities technology in London. There he oversaw the development and implementation of cash management, reconciliation and settlement products, including a new cash management solution which achieved US$10m in savings in its first year operations. Other roles include senior analyst programmer at Lazard Brothers and Vernon was part of a graduate programme at Logica. He has a degree in Computing and Information Systems (Hons) from the University of Manchester.
