Immersion Corporation, a developer of haptics technology, has promoted interim chief executive officer (CEO) Victor Viegas to CEO. He also remains a member of Immersion’s board of directors.
Viegas has a long tenure with Immersion. He joined the company in August 1999, took the company public, and served as chief financial officer (CFO) until February 2005. He served as Immersion’s CEO from October 2002 through April 2008. He has served on the board of directors since October 2002, and in the role of chairman of the board of directors from October 2007 to February 2009. In April 2008, Viegas retired as CEO of the company and came back into an active leadership role as Immersion’s interim CEO in October 2009.
Prior to Immersion, Viegas was CFO of Macrovision Corporation, a developer and licensor of video and software copy protection technologies, and CFO of Balco Incorporated, a manufacturer of advanced automotive service equipment. He holds a BSc in Accounting and an MBA from Santa Clara University.
