Deutsche Bank’s global transaction banking (GTB) division has appointed Werner Schmidt as managing director and head of structured trade and export finance Germany. Schmidt joins from UniCredit Group, where his most recent role was regional head of international financial institutions for eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa. He has over 30 years’ experience in corporate and investment banking including debt capital markets, corporate and institutional client coverage, cash management and trade finance.

Based in Frankfurt, Schmidt will report globally to Klaus Michalak, global head of structured trade and export finance, and regionally to Kees Hoving, regional head of trade finance and cash management corporates for Germany.
