Carol Sawdye Returns to PwC US as CFO

PricewaterhouseCoopers US (PwC US) said that Carol Sawdye is returning to the firm to join its US leadership team as chief financial officer (CFO) and vice chair.

Sawdye began her career at PwC and spent 17 years there, including the last six as a partner. She rejoins PwC from the National Basketball Association (NBA), where she has served as the executive vice president (EVP) and CFO for the past two years, overseeing the financial affairs of the league and its related entities, including managing the NBA’s financial relationships with its 30 teams. Prior to that, she spent eight years at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom, initially as CFO and later also assuming responsibilities as chief operating officer (COO).

In her role as PwC’s CFO, Sawdye will report to US chairman and senior partner, Bob Moritz, and will be responsible for the firm’s financial projections and preparation of its financial statements and related budgeting activities. She will also oversee functional groups within finance, including partnership taxation, treasury, internal audit and real estate. Sawdye succeeds Mike Burwell, a vice chair, who has taken on the role of US transformation leader and will continue as a member of PwC’s US leadership team.

Sawdye is a certified public accountant (CPA), licenced to practice in New York. She received her BS in accounting from the University of Virginia and her MBA, with specialisation in international business and corporate finance, from Columbia University.
