Wolters Kluwer Financial Services to Host COREP & FINREP Webinar

Wolters Kluwer Financial Services is to host a webinar devoted to COREP and FINREP, the new European prudential reporting framework for credit institutions and some investment firms, in early February 2014.

COREP, or Common Reporting, is the name used to describe recently-mandated reporting requirements for capital and risk within the European Union (EU). FINREP is a standardised EU-wide framework for reporting financial (accounting) data. It comprises templates for reporting the income statement and the balance sheet, as well as breakdowns of other data.

COREP and FINREP will apply to all firms currently subject to the Capital Requirements Directive (CRD) or Solvency II. The European Banking Authority (EBA) – formerly the Committee of European Banking Supervisors (CEBS) – has issued guidelines for COREP and FINREP regarding firms’ reporting of the capital requirements and own funds.

The webinar, titled ‘COREP/FINREP-The Final Countdown; six months until live reporting’, will take place on 6 February 2014 at 2.30pm to 3.30pm GMT/3.30pm to 4.30pm CET. The speakers from Wolters Kluwer Financial Services will be Selwyn Blair-Ford, global head of regulatory policy and gtnews‘ contributing editor on regulation; Marc Tesolin, regional director, Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA); and Geoff Booth, senior consultant, who will review and discuss the final countdown to COREP/FINREP live reporting, and the challenges that firms are facing across Europe as the deadline draws near.

The trio will discuss:

  •  What firms need to be tracking.
  •  What are the points still outstanding for clarification and feedback.
  •  What COREP/FINREP hopes to achieve.
  •  How the regulator intends to use the information.
  •  Discussion of some of the newer measures.
  •  Likely changes to the existing framework.
  •  What are the common pains being felt by firms?
