Ingenico, First Data Launch Mobile POS in India

Roam, part of Ingenico Mobile Solutions, has teamed up with First Data to introduce a mobile point-of-sale (MPOS) solution into the Indian market.

Leveraging ROAM’s mobile solution and Ingenico’s global EMV expertise, First Data India has launched its own fully branded chip and PIN MPOS service. The MPOS offering enables merchants in India to accept payments on the go, while incorporating the flexibility, security, and user-friendliness of ROAM’s RP750x cloud-based chip and PIN MPOS card reader.

“We are very pleased to support First Data India in the deployment of MPOS solutions in India,” said Sunith Menon, managing director of Ingenico India. “It illustrates our positioning as a facilitator for new players in mobile payment, and our capacity to leverage on Ingenico Group customers to deploy innovative solutions across new geographies.”

Nitish Asthana, General Manager First Data Acquiring Services, added that MPOS provides a strong solution for on-the-go payments and for smaller merchants in India. “Being a new technology that facilitates financial transactions, we needed a superior product from a trusted partner, able to offer global expertise as well as a strong local presence,” he said. “ROAM’s EMV card reader device provides the security, ease of use and adaptability we needed to bring a reliable MPOS solution to Indian merchants.”
