Equinix Opens Singapore Centre, Adds Further Locations

Equinix, the US-based provider of global carrier-neutral data centres and internet exchanges, has officially opened its third international business exchange (IBX) data centre, known as ‘SG3’, in Singapore.

The company said that SG3 is a purpose-built seven-storey building and its largest in the Asia Pacific region. The facility “demonstrates Equinix’s ongoing commitment to the growing market demand for premium data centre services from financial and cloud companies in the region,” it added.

Equinix also announced plans to open a total of five new IBX facilities on four continents over coming weeks which, it said, would create more capacity for global companies to connect to their partners, customers and employees.

In Asia-Pacific, the new Singapore location will be accompanied by a centre in the Australian city of Melbourne; in North America the centres will be in New York and Toronto while the company’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) site at Slough, near London, will see the existing space expanded with the opening of a third data centre.

“By providing this increased capacity, Equinix expands its role in advancing the digital economy’s interconnected era, in which businesses are demanding increasing levels of interconnection to accelerate business performance,” the company added.
