SIA: Four more Italian banks sign to Jiffy

The Italian payment services provider reports that 23 banks have now joined the eurozone instant payments service, which has over 300,000 registered users.

Italian payment services provider SIA said that four more Italian banks have joined its person-to-person (P2P) payments service Jiffy since the beginning of the year. Jiffy, which launched in Germany late last year, will also be available through Banca Popolare di Sondrio, Cassa Centrale Banca, Gruppo Poste Italiane, Raiffeisen, Veneto Banca and Volksbank Banca Popolare.

SIA said that a total of 23 bank groups have now joined the Jiffy service, developed by SIA to send and receive money in real time using a smartphone, and it has over 300,000 registered users. The average value of a single transaction is €44, although 50% of the operations are for less than €25. SIA added that once all the banks are active, the service will be accessible by over 32m Italian current accounts, equal to around 80% of the total.
