Appointment: Daniel Ohana joins Willis Towers Watson

Willis Towers Watson, an insurance-focused broking and advisory firm, is appointing Daniel Ohana as a senior vice president of its Willis Capital Markets & Advisory (WCMA) unit.

The WCMA division that Daniel Ohana is joining at Willis Towers Watson specialises in investment banking, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and insurance-linked securities.

Based in London, Ohana will join on 31 October, reporting to Brian Shea, Head of WCMA Europe. He previously worked in the financial institutions (FI) group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch as a director, and prior to 2007 was an analyst at HSBC.

Ohana holds an MPhil in Economics from Cambridge University and a BSc in Economics from University College London.

“I am excited to be joining WCMA, a specialist advisor in the insurance sector, with a strong track record,” said Ohana, adding he “looks forward” to working with the team.

In the last 18 months the WCMA team has advised on approximately $10bn in transactions in the global insurance sector, including the purchase of Genworth by China Oceanwide; the purchase of Aurigen by Partner Re; the sale of Brit Plc to Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited; and the sale of Sirius International Insurance Group to China Minsheng Investment Corp.
