The fledgling fintech company said that it has developed a working distributed ledger technology-based solution for a global capital markets infrastructure platform.
EquiChain, the London-based fintech start-up has developed the working prototype of a global capital markets infrastructure platform to “drive market efficiency and improve global investor access in emerging and frontier markets”. Having developed a working distributed ledger technology (DLT)-based solution the company, which also has an Asia regional office in Hong Kong, plans to implement a full end-to-end ‘execution to custody’ (E2C) pilot in 2017, “positioning EquiChain to deliver the full potential of DLT. The company added that it recently closed its initial funding round, secured from its board members, advisors and close stakeholders.
“To ensure EquiChain’s capital markets platform maximises its potential in the years ahead, the company has established two industry working groups, one focusing on institutional investors, the other on market infrastructure,” the company said. “These working groups bring together thought leaders from across the industry to ensure an effective and considered development of the platform while embracing current and future regulatory requirements.” Hugh Madden, co-founder of one of the largest blockchain solutions providers in the industry, ANX International, is to serve as EquiChain’s chief technology officer (CTO).
