Investment bank Imperial Capital Group has announced the continued expansion of its dedicated emerging markets group with the hiring of John Gibbens, managing director, at Imperial Capital (International) LLP (Imperial UK) in London. He will report to Andrew Gold, head of emerging markets sales & trading, and Brian Robertson, head of Imperial UK. “John is one of several expected London-based hires as we further develop our Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEEMEA) focus, and continue to add to the product offering we provide to our clients,” said Gold.
Gibbens joins Imperial UK with over 20 years of leadership experience in relationship management and emerging markets, most recently in the emerging markets sales group at Investec Bank. Prior to Investec, he was a managing director and ran the emerging markets credit sales and trading desk at Jefferies International Limited in London. He has also headed/occupied senior positions on emerging markets trading desks at ABN AMRO/RBS, Commerzbank and Daiwa Securities Europe.
He spent seven years with Deutsche Bank as a director of global markets and fixed income secondary market trader with a focus on Eastern Europe. Gibbens graduated with First Class BSc (Hons) Psychology degree from the University of Hertfordshire, UK.
