A new biometrics company was unveiled today by BBVA and Spanish tech start-up Das-Nano which they jointly established to develop safer and easier client identification and authentication systems.
Veridas will be dedicated to researching and developing software for the digital verification and authentication of people’s identity, through facial, voice, image, fingerprint and document recognition.
It will be led by Eduardo Azanza, also co-founder of Das-Nano.
“Veridas will contribute the talent, knowledge and the specialised experience necessary for the technological development that will allow us to reach our goal, which is to bring the age of opportunity to everyone,” said Ignacio Bernal, BBVA’s head of architecture and IT innovation.
The creation of Veridas is part of BBVA’s aim use biometrics to improve customer experiences.
This technology will allow BBVA to guarantee the authoritative identification of employees and/or customers remotely, which means simplified access to off-site services and extra security for digital transactions and interactions.
“Digital transactions are going to be more secure, thanks to the use of biometrics,” said Azanza, Veridas CEO.
The relationship between BBVA and Das-Nano began in 2015 with a collaboration that has grown since, with the development of further joint projects in personal identity authentication.
