African Minerals Appoints Craig Russell Smith as CFO

African Minerals, a mineral exploration and development company, has appointed Craig Russell Smith as a director and chief financial officer (CFO), effective 1 February 2010.

Smith is a chartered accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia. Prior to joining African Minerals, he was CFO of Felix Resources, a coal mining and exploration company. He has held senior finance and management positions in a number of mining companies including Eastern Corporation and Roche Mining, a division of Downer EDI. Smith qualified as an accountant in 1985 with the firm that is now PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

Jamie Alpen has resigned his position as CFO and from the board of directors of the company, effective 31 January 2010.
