Intel, AXIS, Centrus make treasury appointments

American-based Intel, Centrus, and Bermuda-based AXIS Capital have all appointed new treasurers through internal promotions.

New treasurer for Centrus Energy

Centrus Energy, a supplier of nuclear power industry services, has named Philip Strawbridge as its senior vice president, chief financial officer, chief administrative officer, and treasurer of the company.

The US-based company which supplies nuclear fuel and various services for the nuclear power industry benefits from Strawbridge’s lengthy experience operating within the industry.

Previously, Strawbridge held various positions within the US General Services Administration, and served in executive-level positions at both EnergySolutions and BNG America.

Daniel Poneman, president and chief executive officer at Centrus, said: “With extensive C-suite experience in a variety of roles in the nuclear industry, Philip will be an enormous asset as we continue our work to grow our business and create value for our shareholders.”

AXIS Capital appoints global treasurer

Bermuda-based global insurer and re-insurer AXIS Capital has appointed Martin McCarty as its global treasurer.

In this role, McCarty will be responsible for overseeing capital, foreign currency, ratings agency coordination, and cash and liquidity management. Additionally, he will oversee the finance support provided to AXIS Capital’s risk funding unit.

McCarty has been an AXIS employee for 15 years, and previously held executive-level management positions within the company, including head of finance in North America and global head of finance operations. Before AXIS, he held positions at EY and Regions Financial Corporation.

Peter Vogt, chief financial officer at AXIS, said: “I am excited to be able to fill this role with an internal candidate with such extensive knowledge of AXIS and who can bring such a holistic view of capital to the position.

“I am sure Martin will approach the global treasurer role with all the drive, leadership and collaboration he has exhibited throughout his career.”

Intel internally promotes corporate treasurer

Intel, the US-based technology corporation, has appointed Sharon Heck as its new corporate treasurer.

Heck replaces Ravi Jacob, who is retiring after 35 years at Intel, and will report to the company’s chief financial officer, George Davis.

Davis said: “Sharon will continue to lead Intel’s global tax team, in addition to now leading our exceptional treasury team, which is Ravi Jacob’s lasting legacy at Intel.”

This promotion comes one year after Heck joined Intel as vice president of finance and director of global tax, where she brought experience from working with PwC’s US tax practice.
