GPP hires James Parker for CRO role

London-headquartered brokerage firm GPP has appointed James Parker to a newly-created role of chief risk officer.

Parker holds a wealth of experience in the area of risk management, with his previous role at Société Générale as European head of risk management for over five years. Before that, Parker served as head of clearing at J.P. Morgan and executive director of valuations and model control oversight at Lehman Brothers. His appointment comes as a part of GPP’s strategic expansion of its senior leadership team.

LMAX Exchange appoints IG Group’s Himanshu Kher as Group Treasurer

London-based fintech company LMAX Exchange has confirmed the appointment of Himanshu Kher to the newly created role of group treasurer.

In his new role, Kher will be leading and managing the treasury activities and providing risk management strategies for foreign exchange, reporting to Group CFO Grant Pomeroy. Kher joins LMAX from IG Group, where he was also the group treasurer. With over 18 years of experience, Kher has previously worked with Barclays as director of group treasury as well as other senior risk-management consulting roles at Boston Consulting Group and PwC.

Commenting on his appointment, Kher said: “LMAX Exchange is a recognised leader in institutional FX trading and crypto markets, and I am excited to have joined the firm at such a progressive time in its history. I look forward to bringing my experience to bear in contributing to its future success.”

William Hill appoints Robin Terrell as corporate Audit & Risk chair

London-based bookmarker William Hill has announced the promotion of Robin Terrell as new chair of the firm’s Audit and Risk management committee from 4 March 2019. Terrell will replace David Lowden who will step down from the board in March 2019.

Terrell is the former chief customer officer of Tesco and managing director of John Lewis UK. He has also served as a governance advisor to Tesco Mobile, Lazada Group and Amara Living. He was appointed as a William Hill non-executive director in 2016 and has been a member of the bookmaker’s Audit & Risk Management Committee since 2017.

Eurex Clearing appoints Dmitrij Senko

Europe-headquartered Eurex Clearing has announced the appointed of Dmitrij Senko as chief risk officer effective from 1 July 2019. Senko will take up the new role replacing Thomas Laux. Senko joined Eurex in 2010 and in 2013 he became a head of risk analytics and model validation.

CEO of Eurex Clearing Erik Müller said: “It’s great news that Dmitrij Senko has agreed to join the board. Risk management is at the core of our business and is of special importance to Eurex Clearing. Dmitrij Senko has been with us for many years, and I am very happy that we will benefit from his expertise and deep knowledge in the years to come.”

Metodi Zaburtov joins Luckbox as head of risk management and operations

UK-based esports betting company Luckbox has announced the appointment of Metodi Zaburtov as head of risk management and operations – Sportsbook.

Zaburtov will be responsible for risk management, trading, odds compilation and data feeds, using experience gained in prior senior roles including head of Live Betting at PartyGaming and head of Sportsbook & Esports Optimization at Ultraplay.

Zaburtov said: “I will be overseeing the day-to-day trading operations in an effort to keep up to the high-quality standards we set. This will be a role with many intersections to other departments such as fraud, integrity, CRM, product and support. I am excited to join this team of top professionals and be part of something great. I want to help in building an industry-leading esportsbook that redefines the norms by being user-friendly, entertaining, and heavily segmented and by providing a unique betting service.”
