Blue Mountain Capital Management, the global private investment company, has named Nicolas Pappas CEO of its European operations.

According to a statement released on PR Newswire, Pappas has moved from Goldman Sachs Group Inc., where he was head of leverage, finance trading and research in the EMEA region.

David Rubenstein will leave this post and return to the Blue Mountain’s New York office as managing partner and general counsel, the statement said.

Blue Mountain is a leading private investment firm managing $20.6 billion of assets with a large and diverse team of professionals in New York, London and Tokyo. The company is supported by the firm’s institutionalised infrastructure, including specialised operations and risk management technology.

Prior to joining Goldman Sachs in 2012, Pappas was co-head of the U.S. credit trading at Deutsche Bank AG in New York.

Other leavers from Goldman Sachs include Jerry Keefe, who co-headed the distressed-debt trading group and left to join hedge fund CarVal Investors LLC.

Alongside these departures, Josh Rubinson, another managing director left to join bond trading platform, TruMid Financial LLC, and junk-bond trader, Jeff Psaki and leveraged finance salesman, Jim Joyce have also left recently.
