New consumer banking head for Citi Asia Pacific

Anand Selvakesari has been appointed as Asia Pacific head of consumer banking for US bank Citi and will start in his new role from the beginning of July.

Anand Selvakesari has been appointed as Asia Pacific head of consumer banking for US bank Citi and will start in his new role from the beginning of July.

He will be replacing Jonathan Larsen, who is expected to move onto a role more focused on US global retail banking and mortgage, according to the Economic Times.

In the new position, Selvakesari will be responsible for all consumer business in Asia, dealing with wealth management, retail banking, cards and mortgages and will be working across 12 markets. He will report to Citi’s CEO for global consumer banking Stephen Bird and Francisco Aristeguieta, Citi’s CEO for Asia.

Although having worked at Citi for 23 years where he led the bank in China and India, he has most recently has been Southeast Asia cluster head for consumer banking.

Prior to this, from December 2013, he was head of consumer banking within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations which included businesses in countries such as Singapore, Thailand and India.

Selvakesari has been a prominent member at Citi and has been responsible for investment, retail banking and wealth management in China, India, Taiwan and Singapore since he began his career in 1991.
