Sir Michael Rake has been named as the new chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in the UK. His role at ICC, the world’s business organisation, will draw on his experience as chairman of BT Group and World Pay, as well as his experience from Barclays plc, the CBI and the Prime Minister’s business advisory council. In his new role, Sir Michael will lead ICC in its efforts to champion the benefits of open trade to world peace and prosperity, and act as the figurehead for UK business at an inter-governmental level.
Sir Michael leads a revamped UK board. Paul Korolkiewicz, a partner at KPMG, has been announced as honorary treasurer – replacing Kenneth Gardener, former chief financial officer (CFO) of ICI, who filled the role for 43 years. The roster of new board members also includes Sir Roger Carr, chairman of BAE Systems; Nora Senior, president of BCC; Robert Elliott, senior partner at Linklaters; John Beechey from Beechey Arbitration; and Paul Dreschler, president of CBI.
