Eurex chief risk officer exits

Europe-based risk management provider Eurex Clearing has announced the resignation of its chief risk officer Thomas Laux. Laux has been a part of the company since 2006 and became a member of Eurex Clearing’s executive board in 2013. Previously, he has worked at Eurex Group’s parent organisation Deutsche Börse, where he handled the exchange’s clearing system alongside other strategic projects.

Man Group’s quant arm adds credit duo

Man Numeric, Man Group’s quant arm, has appointed Robert Lam and Paul Kamenski to lead the group’s freshly launched credit business. Lam has previously worked at Apollo Global Management, Incapture Investments and Deutsche Bank. Kaminski joined Man Numeric in 2012 and held the position of senior quantitative researcher in the firm’s strategic alpha research group. He started heading the firm’s research in fixed income and corporate bonds in 2017.

Penney appointed HM Trade Commissioner for Middle East

The UK’s department for International Trade has appointed Simon Penney in the new role of Her Majesty’s Trade Commissioner (HMTC) for the Middle East, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Penney will look after the UK’s trade and investment ambitions across the region, and will work towards creating a profitable and long-lasting UK-Pakistan trade relationship.

Former Tesco exec joins M&S in shake-up of food unit

Marks & Spencer’s food division has announced the appointment of George Wright in the role of commercial director to modernise and enhance the commercial aspects of the company’s food arm. Wright, who will be responsible for trading and supply chain, stepped down from the position of commercial director of Tesco’s fresh food department last month. He holds 30 years of experience in trading, buying and commercial management, and has worked with companies such as Coles, John Lewis and Unilever.

Knight and Morton to leave Office of Tax Simplification

The Office of Tax Simplification (OTS) has announced that tax director Paul Morten will step down from his post, once a replacement is appointed. Morton joined OTS in 2017 after retiring from RELX group, where he headed group taxation. In the past, he has worked at Royal Dutch Shell, KPMG and the Inland Revenue, and was closely associated with Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) in Europe.

RSA appoints UK regions director for Commercial Risk Solutions

London-based insurance company RSA Group has elevated Lee Mooney to the newly created role of director for its Commercial Risk Solutions (CRS) business for the UK. Previously, Mooney was responsible for heading the company’s CRS business in northern England. Rob Gibbs, managing director of CRS, UK and international region, said that Mooney’s drive and knowledge of the regional broker market played a vital role in the company’s improvement in CRS and that his insights and expertise will be invaluable for the company’s growth.
